Strengthening Our Future

The Crescent Tower

MRC is building a permanent institutional home and a sustainable, income-generating asset to strengthen our humanitarian work for generations to come. The Crescent Tower represents our commitment to long-term resilience and our vision to serve communities across the Maldives with greater capability and stability.

The Crescent Tower

On 16 August 2026, MRC launched The Crescent Tower initiative, marking a defining moment for the organisation. For many years, MRC has held a land asset in Hulhumalé allocated for institutional development. On that foundation, we now build MRC's future.

The Crescent Tower represents more than a building. It is an investment in long-term sustainability, an answer to the question of how MRC can continue serving communities not only through the next project or year, but for generations to come. It embodies MRC's commitment to building the resilience of the organisation itself, operationally, institutionally, and financially - so we remain capable of serving whenever and wherever humanity calls.

Project Vision

Project Vision

The Crescent Tower is designed to serve dual purposes: provide MRC with a permanent, secure institutional headquarters while generating sustainable revenue through commercial and office leasing. Every element of the building is conceived to strengthen our capacity to serve humanitarian needs across the Maldives for generations to come.

Why It Matters

Strengthening Our Capacity to Serve

An organisation cannot build resilience in others what it does not hold itself. By creating a secure institutional foundation and sustainable revenue model, The Crescent Tower enables MRC to respond to emerging humanitarian needs with greater capability. The Crescent Tower is conceived with a dual purpose that strengthens MRC's mission on two fronts.

Permanent Institutional Home

The building will provide MRC with a stable, owned headquarters from which our operations, programmes and services can be planned and sustained. This ownership creates the institutional stability we need to serve communities with confidence and continuity.

Sustainable Income Asset

Through leasable office and commercial spaces, The Crescent Tower will generate income that supports the breadth of our humanitarian work. This revenue stream strengthens our independence and allows us to serve without dependence on donor cycles alone.

The true value of this building will not be measured by its height, nor by what it is worth. It will be measured by the humanitarian work it makes possible. That is the legacy we hope to create, a permanent asset, a more resilient institution, and a stronger foundation from which the Maldivian Red Crescent can continue serving the people of this country for generations to come.
