MRC Unveils The Crescent Tower on Its 17th Anniversary: A Vision for a Resilient Future

The building name and dedicated website were revealed at an event held at Meerumaa, bringing together representatives from government, diplomatic, humanitarian, financial, corporate, development, and philanthropic communities.

The Crescent Tower is more than a building. It represents a strategic step forward in ensuring that MRC's humanitarian work, spanning emergency response, first aid, psychosocial support, health and wellbeing, and community resilience, is supported by a sustainable and future-ready institutional foundation.

Developed in partnership with First National Finance Corporation on MRC-owned land on Mirihi Magu in Hulhumalé Phase 1, the 14-storey development will house MRC's new headquarters alongside leasable office and commercial spaces and a community engagement hall, combining institutional, community, and income-generating functions under one purpose-built facility.

Speaking at the unveiling, MRC President Ali Nashid captured the vision behind the initiative: "The true value of this building will not be measured by its height, nor by what it is worth. It will be measured by the humanitarian work it makes possible. That is the legacy we hope to create, a permanent asset, a more resilient institution, and a stronger foundation from which the Maldivian Red Crescent can continue serving the people of this country for generations to come."

Partnership opportunities are now formally open, with financial institutions, businesses, development partners, and individuals invited to contribute through tenancy, financing, sponsorship, or philanthropic support.

As MRC marks 17 years of humanitarian service, The Crescent Tower stands as a symbol of what the organisation has built and what it is building towards. A permanent home. A more resilient institution. And a stronger foundation from which MRC can continue to serve every community, across every island, for generations to come. This is the next chapter, and it belongs, as every chapter has, to the people who make it possible.
