The workshop brought together 27 individuals representing 17 organizations, reflecting a broad cross-section of sectors engaged in disaster management and economic development. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, Business Center Corporation, UNDP, Allied Maldives, and SIGs Maldives, among others — creating a platform for meaningful dialogue across government, the private sector, and humanitarian organizations.

Discussions focused on identifying priority areas where private sector involvement could strengthen and enhance disaster management efforts in the Maldives. Participants explored practical mechanisms for business engagement in preparedness and response, and developed concrete recommendations to advance private sector participation within the broader disaster risk reduction landscape of the Maldives.
The dialogue reflects a growing recognition that building a disaster-resilient Maldives requires collective effort — and that the private sector has a vital role to play alongside government and humanitarian actors in preparing communities and strengthening response systems for the future.
