From 13th - 14th May 2026, MRC conducted a Youth Adapt (Y-Adapt) training in N. Velidhoo, bringing together young people to strengthen their capacities in climate change adaptation and empower them to take meaningful action within their communities.
Through a game-based curriculum, participants explored the concept of climate, the causes and impacts of climate change, and examined the vulnerabilities and capacities within their own communities. The interactive approach was designed to make climate concepts accessible and actionable, equipping young people with both the knowledge and the confidence to drive change at the local level.

Following the training, the MRC National Youth Council facilitated an art-based session focused on community action beyond climate adaptation, encouraging participants to think creatively and ambitiously about how they can design and lead projects for the betterment of their communities.

The training was conducted under the Youth-led Urban Resilience and Climate Action in South Asia Project, supported by the Italian Red Cross and the IFRC, reflecting MRC's commitment to investing in youth as a driving force for climate resilience and community development across the Maldives.
