Police officers are often among the first to respond when someone is in crisis, arriving on scene before any other professionals or other support services are available. The Victim Support unit in particular works closely with some of the most vulnerable individuals within the community, making the ability to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately, and provide immediate psychosocial support a critical component of their role.
By building suicide prevention capacity within the Maldives Police Service, this training strengthens the broader network of community-level support available to those in need ensuring that first responders are not only equipped to manage the immediate situation, but also able to connect individuals to the care and services they require. As part of MRC's Mental Health and Psychosocial Support training portfolio, this session reflects the organization's growing commitment to building mental health awareness and response capacity across key institutions and frontline services in the Maldives.
