Mental Health & Psychosocial Resilience Project

Building the mental health and psychosocial resilience of your workforce and extending that capacity into the communities around you.

Mental health and psychosocial wellbeing are fundamental to a productive, healthy, and resilient workforce — and to the communities in which organizations operate. Across the Maldives, work-related stress, isolation, high-pressure environments, and limited access to professional support affect employees across every sector. For organizations operating in remote or dispersed settings such as resorts, island-based businesses, and public institutions. The challenge is compounded by distance from services and the demands of working far from home and family.

These challenges do not exist in isolation. Climate uncertainty, extreme weather events, and the realities of living in one of the world's most climate-exposed countries add a layer of psychosocial pressure that affects workers and communities alike. Yet in most workplaces and most island communities, the support available does not match the scale of the need.

This Programme addresses that gap building the mental health and psychosocial resilience of your workforce from within, and extending that capacity outward into the communities around you.

Project Goal

To build mental health and psychosocial resilience at two levels. Within partner organizations, where MRC equips staff with the knowledge, skills, and tools to understand, support, and strengthen their own psychosocial wellbeing and that of those around them, and within the communities they operate in, where MRC delivers the same capacity to build overall community resilience.

The the Programme delivers

Project Components

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Service Capacity Development

MRC develops certified MHPSS facilitators through a structured Trainer of Trainers programme developed with the IFRC MHPSS Hub. These facilitators become permanent capacity within MRC's network to deliver psychosocial wellbeing Programmes to organizations and communities

Workplace Psychosocial Wellbeing

MRC equips your staff with the knowledge, skills, and tools to understand, support, and strengthen their own psychosocial wellbeing and that of those around them. Delivered on-site by trained MRC facilitators, the Programme builds a culture of care within your organization

Community Wellbeing Outreach

MRC delivers the same psychosocial wellbeing capacity into the communities surrounding your organization, equipping community members with the knowledge and tools to understand and support their own mental health and that of the people around them

Communication & Awareness Materials

Production of MHPSS communication and awareness materials for both organisational and community use. Curated Staff wellbeing toolkits, knowledge products multilingually  and digital content that raises understanding of psychosocial wellbeing.

Value for Your Organization

A Mental Health & Psychosocial Resilience partnership with MRC delivers measurable value  to your staff, your organization, and the communities in which you operate. Your staff gain the knowledge and tools to support their own wellbeing and that of their colleagues, and the communities around you gain resilience.

  1. Staff equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tools to understand, manage, and support psychosocial wellbeing for themselves and those around them.

  2. A healthier, more resilient working environment where people are better prepared to recognize, respond to, and support each other through everyday pressures.

  3. Professionally delivered, culturally grounded psychosocial wellbeing sessions extending beyond your organisation into the surrounding community.

  4. Communication and awareness materials for ongoing use across your organization and community. Building sustained understanding of mental health and wellbeing.

  5. A visible and meaningful link between your corporate responsibility and real humanitarian impact -demonstrating that your organization invests in people, not just operations.

Partnership Model

How the partnership works

This is a co-partnership between MRC and the partner organization

Maldivian Red Crescent

leads delivery, managing trainer development, facilitating workplace and community sessions, producing communication materials, and ensuring quality and sustainability across the Project.

Your organization

hosts the workplace Programme, provides access for MRC facilitators, and co-funds programme delivery  enabling MRC to extend the same capacity into the surrounding community. Your contribution sustains both the workplace component and the community outreach, ensuring the Programme delivers impact at both levels. Where possible, in-kind contributions further strengthen delivery and reduce costs.

IFRC MHPSS Hub

provides the technical foundation a globally validated network for mental health and psychosocial support, curriculum development, trainer certification, and quality assurance aligned to international standards.
