Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change Project

Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change Project

In alignment with MRC’s Strategic Priority 5: Foster Humanitarian Values and Volunteerism, MRC is currently implementing the Youth as Agents for Behavioral Change Project (YABC), supported by Transparency Maldives (TM). An initiative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the YABC Program aims to inspire positive transformations in mindsets, attitudes, and behaviors among youth and their communities, fostering a culture of non-violence and peace (CNV+P).

Our Approach:

Youth Engagement

The objective of the YABC Project is to provide a platform for young people to engage with and address critical thematic issues while fostering essential interpersonal skills. The Project aims to engage vulnerable at-risk young people with the overall goal of building resilience of youth, enhance their agency and belonging in the society.

Interactive Learning

Through a blend of interactive discussions, activities, and peer-educators guidance, participants can foster their understanding and reflection on topics such as diversity, gender, and social inclusion, etc.

Humanitarian Values:

The YABC Project is about nurturing human values such as respect for diversity, equality, mutual understanding, solidarity, responsibility, cooperation, integrity, and inclusion. It employs a non-cognitive learning methodology as it connects to the learners’ hearts, feelings, and life experience.

Project Outcomes:

Culture of Non-violence and Peace (CNV+P)

Central to the YABC Project is the promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace (CNV+P). By instilling humanitarian values, the Project cultivates a community where conflict is resolved through dialogue and mutual respect, paving the way for sustainable peacebuilding initiatives.

Behavioral Change

The YABC Project facilitates tangible shifts in behaviors, attitudes, and perceptions among participants, leading to the promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace (CNV+P) within communities.

Youth Empowerment

By providing platforms for youth engagement and leadership development, the Project empowers youth to become active agents of change within their communities, contributing to long-term peacebuilding efforts.
