Healthy Ageing Programme - Kulhudhuffushi City

The Flagship Healthy Aging and Elderly Care Programme by MRC Kulhudhuffushi City Unit stands as a testament to our commitment to serving the most vulnerable within our community. Among these, the elderly population holds a special place, often finding themselves in a vulnerable position during both times of crisis and times of peace.

Our initiative encompasses regular visitation programs designed to reach out to elderly individuals who are living alone or with only one spouse. The core objective of these visits is to alleviate the burden of social isolation that they might be experiencing. During each visit, we engage with these seniors on a variety of topics, including their recollections of days gone by. The knowledge and insights gleaned by our enthusiastic young volunteers are invaluable, fostering a sense of intergenerational connection. Importantly, this initiative acts as a conduit for the passage of previously unrecorded snippets of history to our pool of volunteers supporting this initative.

In alignment with our mission, we aspire not only to cater to elderlies living alone but also to extend our reach across Kulhudhuffushi by visiting every elderly individual at least once annually.

One of our standout annual events, the Elderly Evening, brings together elderlies from across the island for a comprehensive social gathering. Collaborating closely with our partners ensures an enjoyable and meaningful experience for them. This event offers a platform for rekindling old friendships, revisiting cherished memories, and celebrating their life journeys.
