MRC Male' City Unit Ergonomics Training 2024: Equipping Volunteers with Skills for Emergencies and Services

The patient transport service is one of MRC’s flagship services provided in the greater Male’ Area by the MRC Male’ City Unit– with an increase in the demand for patient transport services, as well as the dignified transportation of the deceased service, there was a need to train and build the capacity of MRC staff and volunteers for the movement of patients. As such, this led to the development of the Ergonomics Training in 2019, which has been conducted annually since.

In 2024, the Ergonomics Training was conducted from 19th to 21st September 2024 with a total of 14 participants. Through the Ergonomics Training, staff and volunteers were equipped with many vital skills on first aid, moving and lifting techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment (START-triage) in mass casualty incidents, Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and the movement of a deceased person in a dignified manner. An emergency drill also took place on the last day of the training, focusing on safe practices and quick responses. MRC Male’ City Unit aims to build the capacity of Patient Transport services and Dignified Transportation of the Deceased services every year.
