'Israhvehinge Haveeru' Annual Elderly Evening, Kulhudhuffushi City

The Maldivian Red Crescent, Kulhudhuffushi City Unit conducted its annual 4th Elderly Evening on November 18, 2023, marking a significant milestone in their ongoing commitment to elderly welfare.

This year’s event was made possible through the on-going partnership between Maldivian Red Crescent and Ali fulhu Thuthu Foundation focusing on promoting healthy ageing in the Maldives. With a remarkable turnout of over 120 elderly individuals aged 60 and above, the event was held at the premises of Jalaluddin School and showcased a diverse array of stalls offering essential services and recreational activities. Among the services provided on-site were free GRBS testing, accompanied by dietary counseling, and pension-related assistance.

This year's Elderly Evening also included an inter-generational dialogue. This dialogue was facilitated by several elderly participants and enthusiastic young volunteers of MRC, the dialogue focused on enhancing social inclusion for the elderly. 

In addition to the MRC's contributions, various organizations in Kulhudhuffushi City actively participated in the event, setting up stalls to engage with the community. Amongst the organizations include Kulhudhuffushi City Council, Kulhudhuffushi Women’s Development Committee, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Kulhudhuffushi City Police, Young Leaders Kulhudhuffushi Branch, and H.Dh. Family and Children’s Service Center. Their collective presence enriched the event, offering a comprehensive range of resources and support.

The success of the Elderly Evening is a testament to the strength of community collaboration and the shared commitment to the well-being of Kulhudhuffushi's elderly population. MRC extends its gratitude to all contributors and looks forward to working towards to promotion of community health and wellbeing of elderly in our communities.
