Maldivian Red Crescent and National Disaster Managing Centre signs a Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Strategic Partnerships in Disasters and Emergencies
Maldivian Red Crescent and National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to coordinate efforts to strengthen Maldivian communities to become more resilient to emergencies and disasters. Maldivian Red Crescent has had a close relationship with National Disaster Management Centre in the past years working in Disaster Management, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response. Most recently, MRC acted as a key partner in the formation of the National Disaster Management Plan spearheaded by NDMC. Speaking at the event, Secretary General of Maldivian Red Crescent, Ms. Aishath Noora Mohamed stressed on the emphasis on ensuring that all communities are included in their efforts to build resilience to strengthen communities in disaster risk reduction. Deputy Minister of Ministry of Defense and National Security, Ms. Fathimath Thasneem commended on the large group of active volunteers from MRC who assists in times of disasters and emergencies, and she also expressed the importance of such two organizations working together to form a more conducive environment to strengthen our communities in times of disaster and emergencies.
